ECOVACS Review: DEEBOT Robot Vacuums & GOAT Mowers

ECOVACS DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI station in a living room

ECOVACS makes robots that clean floors and cut grass. The DEEBOT line covers robot vacuums and mops with self-emptying stations, and the GOAT line covers wire-free robot lawn mowers. This review walks through the nine models on this site, what separates them, and which kind of home each one suits, then points you to the guides that go deeper.

Four ideas run through the current DEEBOT range. Many models now mop with an OZMO roller that washes itself with fresh water while it cleans, rather than a flat pad that gets dirtier as it goes. The mop lifts on carpet so rugs stay dry. ZeroTangle brushes are built to stop long hair and pet hair wrapping. And a station takes over routine upkeep, from emptying the dustbin on every model to washing and drying the mop on most. The details, from suction to mop type to station features, are what change from model to model.

The model notes below are drawn from ECOVACS's published specifications.

What sets ECOVACS apart

Self-washing roller mops. On the X12 OMNICYCLONE, X8 PRO OMNI, X9 PRO OMNI, T80S OMNI and T90 PRO OMNI, fresh water feeds the roller during the job, so the mop doesn't wait for a trip back to the dock to get clean. The N30 OMNI uses two spinning pads instead.

Edge reach. ECOVACS pushes the mop out toward walls and corners. On the X12 OMNICYCLONE, TruEdge 3.0 extends the roller about 1 inch, and on the T90 PRO OMNI about 0.6 inch. The N30 OMNI uses a hovering arm for edge mopping.

Lift systems for mixed floors. Triple Lift on the X9 PRO OMNI and T80S OMNI raises the roller and brushes separately, so the robot can keep carpets dry or switch to mop-only when it finds a liquid spill. The X12 OMNICYCLONE lifts its roller 0.59 inch on carpet and closes a cover between the roller and the rug.

Wire-free mowing. Neither GOAT mower needs a boundary wire. The GOAT A3000 LiDAR maps the yard with LiDAR and needs no RTK antenna; the GOAT O1000 RTK combines RTK positioning with a camera and a 3D ToF sensor.

A simple way to choose: start with the floors. Mostly rugs and pets points to the X9 PRO OMNI or T90 PRO OMNI. Low furniture points to the T80S OMNI. Sticky kitchen floors and no dust bags point to the X12 OMNICYCLONE. A smart home built on Matter points to the X8 PRO OMNI. A first self-emptying robot points to the N20e Plus or N30 OMNI. If you want the most suction and a camera to check on pets, it's the T90 PRO OMNI. To see every DEEBOT on this site side by side, grouped into the X, T and N series, browse our robot vacuums page.

Stations and upkeep by model

Every DEEBOT here empties its own dustbin at the station. Six of the seven also wash the mop there; the N20e Plus station handles dust only.

  • The X12 OMNICYCLONE station is bagless: a 1.6 L bin rated for up to 48 days, a heated-water roller wash and a self-cleaning dirty-water box.
  • The X8 PRO OMNI's 12-in-1 station refills the robot, washes the roller in 167°F water, dries it with hot air, doses cleaning solution and cleans itself.
  • The T90 PRO OMNI station adjusts its wash temperature up to 167°F by room and soil level, dries with 145°F hot air, doses solution and flushes its own dirty-water system. ECOVACS rates its dust bag for up to 90 days.
  • The X9 PRO OMNI and T80S OMNI stations wash with hot water and dry at 145°F, and ECOVACS rates both for up to 150 days of low-maintenance use.
  • The N30 OMNI station washes the pads, dries them with 104°F air and empties into a 2.6 L bag rated for up to 75 days.
  • The N20e Plus station is bagless and rated for up to 45 days.

On the T90 PRO OMNI the clean-water tank is filled by hand rather than plumbed in. ECOVACS recommends purified or soft water in the tank to keep filters and outlets free of scale.

Who ECOVACS fits

ECOVACS suits homes that want a robot to mop as well as vacuum without hands-on mop care, pet owners who need anti-tangle brushes, and mixed-floor homes where the mop has to stay off the rugs. The slim T80S OMNI suits homes with low furniture, the X8 PRO OMNI suits Matter-based smart homes, and the N20e Plus suits first-time owners who mainly want self-emptying. The GOAT A3000 LiDAR suits larger lawns with trees and buildings, and the GOAT O1000 RTK suits smaller yards with narrow side paths.

It's a weaker fit if you want a station connected to a water line, since the T90 PRO OMNI tank is filled by hand. It's also a weaker fit if your router only runs 5GHz Wi-Fi, because the T90 PRO OMNI, X12 OMNICYCLONE and N30 OMNI connect on 2.4GHz only, or if your lawn is larger than 3/4 acre.

X8 PRO OMNI or X9 PRO OMNI?

The X9 PRO OMNI adds Triple Lift, which raises the roller mop, main brush and side brush separately, and BLAST airflow for carpets. The X8 PRO OMNI has the higher suction figure on paper and Matter support.

Which DEEBOT doesn't need dust bags?

The X12 OMNICYCLONE and the N20e Plus both have bagless stations. ECOVACS rates the X12 bin for up to 48 days and the N20e Plus container for up to 45 days. You empty the bin by hand instead of replacing a bag.

Does ECOVACS work with Apple Home?

The X8 PRO OMNI supports Matter, which lets it join Matter-compatible smart-home systems. It also works with the ECOVACS HOME app, YIKO-GPT, Alexa and Google Assistant. ECOVACS names Siri Shortcuts as compatible with the X12 OMNICYCLONE.

How do I remap one room or the whole house?

In the ECOVACS HOME app you can use Restore Map to go back to the first saved map, or delete the map and build a new one. To map a new area, tap the plus button on the map screen and move the DEEBOT to the new space.

Can I run an ECOVACS in mop-only mode?

The X12 OMNICYCLONE has a mop-only mode alongside vacuum, vacuum and mop, and vacuum-first-then-mop. The T80S OMNI switches to mop-only by itself when it detects liquid, lifting its brushes so the spill isn't vacuumed into the dustbin. The T90 PRO OMNI offers vacuum, vacuum and mop, and vacuum-first-then-mop modes.

Which GOAT mower fits my lawn?

ECOVACS rates the GOAT A3000 LiDAR for lawns up to 3/4 acre, at up to 400 m² per hour, and says it can cover about 0.12 acre in two hours including recharging. The GOAT O1000 RTK is rated for lawns up to 1/4 acre and needs an RTK antenna in the yard; ECOVACS rates it at about 1,507 to 1,938 sq ft per hour depending on mode.

Why is my ECOVACS mop not getting wet?

Usually a low water setting, a tank that isn't seated flat, a loose sealing plug or a clogged filter. Our mop-not-wet guide goes through the checks in order.
