Overview

The GOAT A3000 LiDAR is ECOVACS's large-lawn robot mower, sized for yards up to 3/4 acre. It needs no perimeter wire and no RTK antenna. A 360° LiDAR and front ToF sensors build the map and track the mower's position, which ECOVACS says keeps it accurate under trees and close to buildings, where satellite-based positioning can struggle.

Two cutting blades give a 13-inch (33 cm) cutting width. Running on a 32V platform at 0.7 m/s, ECOVACS rates it at up to 400 m² per hour, with path planning it says is up to 30% more efficient than traditional robot mowers. The 5Ah battery recharges in 45 minutes, and the mower can cover about 0.12 acre in two hours, recharge included.

For safety, AIVI 3D combines a 150° fisheye camera, AI recognition and 3D ToF LiDAR to identify more than 200 types of obstacles and stop close to them. Along walls, fences and hedges it mows to within about 5 cm (2 in) of the edge, which reduces the strip left for a trimmer. It can also tell grass from paths it's allowed to drive over, so it can cross between lawn areas.

Cutting height adjusts from 1.18 to 3.54 inches. The mower weighs 36.2 lb.

Cons

  • At 36.2 lb it's heavy to carry between separate front and back yards.

Questions

Does the GOAT A3000 LiDAR need a boundary wire or an RTK antenna?

No. It maps the lawn with a 360° LiDAR and front ToF sensors, so there is no perimeter wire to bury and no antenna to place in the yard.

How big a lawn can it handle?

ECOVACS rates it for lawns up to 3/4 acre. It mows up to 400 m² per hour, and the 5Ah battery recharges in 45 minutes, so larger lawns are covered over several runs.

How close to walls and fences does it cut?

To within about 5 cm (2 in) of walls, fences and hedges, which leaves a narrow strip for a trimmer.

What cutting heights does it offer?

From 1.18 to 3.54 in. Grass taller than 3.54 in should be cut down before the mower takes over.

Does it work under trees?

Yes. It doesn't rely on satellite positioning, and ECOVACS says LiDAR keeps it accurate under trees and close to buildings.
